My Journey from Geophysics to Global Adventures - and How You Can Do It Too

I believe life is meant to be an adventure, not just a routine. My journey began with a love for the outdoors and a curiosity about the earth beneath our feet. In 2009, while buried in textbooks studying Geophysical Engineering, I discovered that my passion extended beyond theory — I wanted to experience the world.

Those early field trips sparked a fire in me, and I haven’t stopped exploring since!

The Early Spark (2009-2014)

My academic life was the catalyst for my adventures. From the first semester at the Faculty of Earth Sciences, I was immersed in nature, learning about its depths while camping and hiking. These experiences weren't just assignments; they were the beginning of a lifelong love affair with exploration.

In 2014, my world expanded when I studied abroad in Canada at the University of Ottawa. It was my first time living in a foreign country, and at 22, the challenge of starting fresh in a new environment was both daunting and exhilarating. It shaped me, teaching me resilience and the courage to step outside my comfort zone.

Finding My Voice (2015)

In 2015, a scholarship led me to the University of Manchester for an MSc in Petroleum Exploration Geoscience. This wasn't just about furthering my education; it was about diving into a melting pot of cultures. I met people from all corners of the globe, each with unique stories and perspectives. However, the most significant discovery happened during a field trip. I connected with two classmates who shared my love for photography and videography. For the first time, I was not just behind the lens but in front of it. In Morocco, we created a YouTube video, and as I watched myself on screen, a realization dawned: I wanted to be the main character of my own story. I knew time was fleeting—I was 25, studying in the UK, exploring Morocco—these moments wouldn't return.

After completing my degree, a 20-day backpacking trip through Europe with a friend solidified my path. We navigated seven countries using Couchsurfing and Blablacar, immersing ourselves in local life and embracing the unexpected. Living abroad and exploring Europe awakened a desire to keep moving, keep discovering, and share my journey through photography. The world became my canvas, and my camera, my storyteller.

Balancing Act: Work and Wanderlust (2017-2019)

Upon returning home, I began a full-time job as a geoscientist but refused to let adventure take a backseat. I spent six months traveling across Mexico, uncovering hidden gems and sharing my travels online, hoping to inspire others to connect with nature. Weekends became sacred — opportunities to explore, camera in hand, and share travel tips. I’ve spent the past seven years proving that a 9-to-5 job is not a barrier to chasing your dreams. My career provides structure and balance, allowing me to pursue my creative passions. One foot in science, the other in creative endeavors — each enriching the other.

In 2019, a trip to Peru with a close friend sparked the idea of curating trips for others. We dreamed of sharing our adventure experiences. While in Mexico City, I started organizing weekend trips, building a community and bringing people together through adventure. What began as a passion project soon became a driving force outside my work schedule.

A Detour and a Revelation (2020)

In December 2020, an accident changed everything. A car ran me over, shattering the bones in my right wrist. Suddenly, my fast-paced life came to a halt. I couldn't climb or go mountaineering, but I found a new way to connect with nature. I started exploring cabins and glamping spots near the city, sharing my experiences online. It was during the pandemic, and people were eager to get outside, so I became a source of inspiration. Small businesses thrived from the exposure, people found cool places to visit, and I had a renewed purpose: to inspire people to connect with nature. My dream of traveling and sharing my worldview was becoming a reality.

New Beginnings in the USA (2022)

In 2022, I moved to the USA, taking a remote job in the oil and gas industry. After six months in Houston, I yearned for nature and drove across the country to Washington State. Unsure of where to settle, I began house-sitting, exploring different communities while caring for animals. The past two years, I explored more than seven cities across Washington, blending my love for travel, nature, and pets.

Betting on My Dreams (2024)

2024 was the year I decided to bet on my dreams, my creativity, and my passion for the outdoors through adventure content creation. It was a year filled with growth, challenges, and some of the most remarkable experiences of my career. Every month brought something new and unforgettable.

I wrote an audiobook, chased the Northern Lights in Alaska and Iceland, led group trips to Guatemala and Canada, witnessed gray whales in La Paz, and took a cruise through Patagonia. I partnered with Canon, DJI Global, Visit the USA, Bonjour Québec, Fotomecanica and many others. This year wasn’t about ticking places off a list; it was about connecting with the world, inspiring others, and pushing my limits.

Why I Share My Story

My journey hasn't always been easy, but it’s been real. You don't have to wait for the "perfect moment" to start living your dreams. You can create a life filled with adventure, even while working a 9-to-5 job. It’s about finding balance, taking risks, and trusting your instincts. My goal is to show you that anything is possible. Through my experiences, I hope to inspire you to step outside, explore, and tell your own story.

Thank you for being part of my journey. Let’s dream big and create a life we love, together.
